Special Education Policies and Procedures

In cooperation with the Arizona Department of Education, Haven Montessori ensures that students enrolled in its school between the ages of 5 and 14 are identified, located, and evaluated for disability and/or the need for special education and related services. Our procedures for identification and location must include a practical method of determining which students are currently receiving needed special education and related services, and which students are not currently receiving needed special education and related services.

Haven Montessori shall be responsible for developing, implementing, and documenting child identification procedures for all children with special needs. Our procedures for identification must include the following provisions: creating public awareness of special education opportunities at our school and advising parents of the rights of students with disabilities. These rights are to be made available in language and wording which would be understandable to all parents regardless of their ethnic, linguistic, or cultural background. Child Find Services information is posted in the school and is made available to all parents of children birth through five years of age. This information informs of screening and evaluation services that are available for children with disabilities.
