Flagstaff Fire Department Visits Haven!

This morning, the Flagstaff Fire Department visited Haven to give a presentation to all of our students (except for the sleeping babies). They drove up right behind the school in their big red fire truck, showed off all of their equipment, and talked about what firemen do all day and what to do in emergencies. They also put on their full gear to show the kids that they’re not someone to be scared of if they see them in their big uniform and mask. Fist bumps all down the line! Everyone went home with a little red fire hat and a sticker. Thank you so much to FFD and to our Assistant Director, Taylor, for arranging it with her awesome husband, Ryan!

Hispanic Heritage Month at Haven!

Hispanic Heritage Month at Haven!

This October, Haven is honoring Hispanic Heritage Month! K-6 students are learning Spanish from Ms. Kaylyn Enriquez. Kay and assistant Anne Flaherty collaborated with our elementary students to create a map of “Los 21 paises de habla Hispania” (21 Spanish speaking countries). The map is a visual reminder of the beautiful languages and the countries from which they hail. “Thank you Ms. Kay for including me, all of us really, in your lessons and beautiful culture,” said Anne. She added, “Stay tuned…more tricks up our sleeves coming soon!” ¡Increíble!
