Kendra Hermann

Hey there! My name is Kendra Hermann and I was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas. From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a teacher and I fought that call for a few years until I started working at Raintree Montessori while in college. I immediately fell in love with the philosophy and the independence it offered students. I was hooked and graduated with my bachelors in French from KU in 2012. Then I took AMI Montessori training at the Montessori Institute of Milwaukee graduating in 2016. While in training I got to experience the classroom as an assistant teacher both in the lower and upper elementary. It was a really awesome way to get to know the materials and to dig deeper into the philosophy. I took over my first lower elementary classroom in 2015 at a public Montessori school in Kansas City, Mo. After having worked in elementary school for a few years, I took Montessori Adolescent training in the summer of 2017. I got to teach elementary and adolescents at the same time. It was a hard but worthwhile experience. However, in 2019, the small school I was at decided to close. My husband (Joe) and I decided it was time for a change. We found Haven and quickly moved to Flagstaff in June 2019. I have been the guide in the Willow class since. After my experience with COVID teaching, I decided it was time to add more tools to my repertoire as a teacher and pursued my master’s degree in elementary education. I graduated in May 2024 with my M.Ed from Arizona State University.

In my free time, I enjoy a lot of activities. I love to cook and bake, spend time outdoors, read, craft, write, hike, garden, travel, cheer on the Jayhawks, and spend time with my family. We have a dog (Milo) and a cat (Batman) who are very spoiled. I love teaching lower elementary and I am excited for many more years to come.
