Macy Kiim

Hello! My name is Macy Kiim and I have called Flagstaff home since 2004. I started at Haven in 2020, first assisting Ms. Kim and the upper elementary students for the wild and wooly distance-learning experience that was our first COVID year. After that I had the pleasure of assisting Ms. Katie and the toddlers for two years. Now I lead the Nido, or infant room, and adore sharing my days with our youngest friends. My daughter started at Haven when she was in first grade; my husband and I credit her time here as instrumental in helping her grow into the motivated, kind, well-rounded person she is today.

As a lifelong learner, deepening my understanding of Montessori education - a peace-filled, child-centered approach - is an absolute joy. My curvy career path has led me through massage therapy, the nonprofit sector, adult education, and ongoing graduate studies with NAU’s Sustainable Communities program. My thesis work focuses on reimagining our built environment through the wide-ranging possibilities and implications of building with earthen materials, with a dash of Montessori sprinkled in.

I can usually be found thinking about food, playing in the garden with my husband, supporting my daughter’s various artistic pursuits, listening to Bach really loud, and generally trying to cherish each day.
