Sarah Campbell

Hello! My name is Sarah Campbell and this is my second year at Haven. I grew up in the Detroit area, with my formative years at Montessori schools. I attended St. Olaf College in Minnesota majoring in Philosophy with a minor in Education. After graduating, I enjoyed traveling throughout the world, getting a graduate diploma in Environmental Assessment, living in some special places in North America, and working in a few different fields before realizing that teaching was my true calling. I received my primary certification from the North American Montessori Center in 2011 and, just after the birth of my son, began teaching in a Montessori primary classroom in Montana. I taught three to six year olds for three years before the birth of my daughter. Then in 2018, we moved to Portland, Oregon in order for me to get my AMI Montessori elementary certification. Upon graduating, we moved to Flagstaff and have been delighted to find such a wonderful school community here to welcome us. Since moving here, I have also finished my Masters in Education from Loyola University in Maryland.

I love knitting, baking, writing, playing guitar, ukulule or bass, and singing. My favorite subjects are history, botany and geography, though I love learning in many forms and subject areas. I also enjoy hiking, canoeing, camping and spending time with my family. I think it is the highest privilege and responsibility to teach this very important generation of young people and I am grateful to be doing this work.
